"Jager," our red dun stallion is a poised, relaxed, and willing partner.  In fact he is so willing, he was the first horse that Erin ever started.  Jager accepted every step of the process with a casual and calm demeanor, and was always looking forward to the next session.  He is a beautiful mover, with a lot of reach in his gaits.  Purchased from Fleetwood Farms Quarter Horses in Champion, AB, he is the very embodiment of what we want to produce at Coldfire Ranch:  horses that ignite a passion without the need for "drama".

Far surpassing our expectations, Jager began competing in Cowboy Mounted Shooting in 2018 as a 4-year-old - a full year ahead of schedule.  He was surprisingly easy-going, confident and willing for a young horse in intense conditions, and even competed at Canadian Finals.  Before competing, we sent Jager for 60 days of more advanced training with Mel Hyland, in High Prairie.  Mel told us to "ante-up" with this horse; that he could handle the pressure.  It was incredible to hear Mel, a 2-time World Saddle Bronc champion, gush about the wisdom and likeability of our young stallion.  Jager then took to gun-breaking like it was no big thing.

His sire is Jaz Poco Goldun Blue: the most recognized grullo horse in the world, 95% Foundation bred, and 27% Poco Bueno blood.  His dam is a full sister to the mighty Playgun.  Jager inherited his sire's beautiful head, and his dam's elegant body, but with extra "heft".  With this mix of reining and cutting blood, and a long list of great horses on his papers, we couldn't ask for a better ambassador for Coldfire Ranch.

Jager's foals have been consistently easy to work with.  They are people-friendly, inquisitive, and learn quickly.  In fact Erin loved his first colt so much, she kept him as a future Gelding.  Uno was born in July/2018, and is ready to be started under saddle in 2021.
